PET Resin Boasting High Thermal Safety and Minimal Degradation
Iwatani launched sales of highly recyclable aluminum catalyst PET resins in 2016. Its production is entrusted to Indorama Ventures PCL, one of the world’s largest PET resin manufacturers, through licensed use of Toyobo Co., Ltd.’s patented GS catalyst technology.

Product Characteristics
1Outstanding Recyclability—Low Color Change
Aluminum catalyst PET resin exhibits high stability when fused and minimal color change or change in physical properties when heat-treated, making it ideal as a material for promoting material recycling. In tests involving heat treatment for two hours at 300°C with nitrogen substitution, aluminum catalyst PET resin shows virtually no thermal degradation and retains its transparency.

2Outstanding Recyclability—High IV Retention
The other PET resin is mainly recycled for sheet and fiber applications, and the number of times they can be recycled has been limited due to thermal degradation. Our high recyclable aluminum catalyst PET resin is suitable for bottle recycling of soft drinks and other products that require moldability and transparency due to its high thermal stability, promoting bottle-to-bottle horizontal recycling. Since it has less thermal degradation after recycling process, it can be recycled more often than the other PET resin, which also promotes the effective use of resources.
