Molybdenum is a rare metal characterized by a high melting point, hardness, mechanical strength, and insulating properties. Iwatani sources various types of molybdenum raw materials from a supplier who operates the largest molybdenum-tungsten mine in China. We have supplied molybdenum over the years for use in a wide range of applications, including catalysts, sintering trays for ceramics and magnetic materials, additives to steel, and pigments. Iwatani’s supplier accounts for a 30% share of the world’s molybdenum production. This allows us to respond to a wide range of customer needs and to ensure a reliable supply source over the long term, reduced cost, and small-volume supply for new development applications.
