Toward Decarbonization: Materials Division Initiatives

At the Materials Division, we strive to become a leader in the promising fields in which our strengths lie. We have quickly responded to develop mineral resources, including mineral sands, along with applications. We’ve also focused on procuring and developing raw materials essential in the development of functional resins, high performance metals, and other applications in the environmental, electronics, and automotive industries. We’re helping to establish a decarbonized society by offering environmentally-friendly products and biomass fuels that move us closer to a recycling-based society.

Achieving a Recycling-Based Society

A recycling-based society acts with regard for natural cycles, seeking to avoid excessive burdens on the natural environment. At the Materials Division, we actively pursue the development of new eco-friendly products and recycling business to minimize our environmental impact and to help reduce our consumption of natural resources.

Supporting the Next Generation Car Society

Efforts to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), a major cause of global warming, have made widespread progress in the automotive industry. Next generation vehicles, such as hydrogen powered fuel cell vehicles and vehicles driven solely by electric motors, are changing the very structure of automobiles. At the Materials Division, by providing a wide range of materials, including vehicle battery materials, we strive to support a society based on these next generation vehicles.

Promoting Use of Renewable Energy

Energy generated from solar, hydroelectric, biomass, and geothermal sources involves no emissions of CO2, a key gas contributing to global warming. At the Materials Division, we are committed to energetic promotion of such renewable energy sources. We plan to expand our biomass fuel operations to promote the use and acceptance of biomass power.
