Shipbuilding Process
Describing the different stages involved in shipbuilding
from start to finish
Phase 01 Hull assembly
Assembly of the hull forming the base of the ship
The outer structure of the ship, known as the hull, is the first section to be built. It is constructed upside-down from steel plates cut as specified in the design drawings and welded together. Welding the curved sections requires considerable skill. A key feature of this ship is that the exterior plates are finished using just a grinder.
Phase 03 Equipped with Superstructure
Equipping of the superstructure, consisting of the passenger cabin and control room, to the hull
A crane is used to mount and weld the superstructure to the hull in the upright position. With the addition of each block, the overall appearance of the ship gradually takes shape.
Phase 04 Interior and exterior outfitting
Installation of propulsion and electrical systems and decoration of the entire ship
Once the awning that forms the ship’s roof has been installed, essential equipment for cruising, such as the engine, instruments, and electrical systems, is fitted, followed by interior and exterior decoration work. Previously just a bare framework, the ship is now nearing its final form.
Phase 05 Take the water ~trial voyage~
Repeated testing ahead of actual operation
Repeated trials are conducted on the sea to verify that the ship operates without issues. Testing covers a wide range of aspects to be checked, from propulsion to steering systems and ship stability.
