Accelerating hydrogen energy research and clean energy development

Iwatani Advanced Hydrogen
Technology Center

In October 2021, to realize our goal of building a hydrogen energy-based society, we founded the Iwatani Advanced Hydrogen Technology Center. The center will accelerate the development of new and proprietary technologies related to decarbonization, including the manufacture of green hydrogen and green LPG, as well as the hydrogen-related technologies we have developed to date.

Initiatives at the Iwatani Advanced Hydrogen Technology Center

With the aim of building a hydrogen energy-based society, technology developments and commercial feasibility studies are underway both in Japan and abroad as part of efforts to promote hydrogen usage.
At the Iwatani Advanced Hydrogen Technology Center, we carry out studies aimed at reducing construction costs of hydrogen-refueling stations, enhancing their safety, and promoting revisions to related regulations through evaluating hydrogen-compatible materials and equipment durability. We have launched full-scale efforts to develop green hydrogen manufacturing technologies based on renewable energy, as well as research in biogas technologies and technologies to synthesize hydrocarbons from hydrogen and carbon dioxide. The goal is to develop manufacturing technologies for a wide range of fuels, including but not limited to hydrogen energy, and to achieve a decarbonized society.
