Iwatani Corporation Constructs a New Liquefied Carbon Dioxide Manufacturing Plant
~Receiving Raw Gas Supply from Sakai Refinery of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd.~

Iwatani Corporation (Head office: Tokyo and Osaka; President: Masao Nomura; Paid-in capital: 20 billion yen) has constructed a new liquefied carbon dioxide manufacturing plant on the premises of its affiliate Hydro Edge Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Hydro Edge”).

1. Details of Construction

In recent years, supply of liquefied carbon dioxide has been extremely tight due to the closure of suppliers and the reduced production. The severe environment is projected to continue into the future, particularly in the Western Japan region.

In response, Iwatani Corporation has decided to build a new liquefied carbon dioxide manufacturing plant in Sakai, Osaka. With the construction of this plant, in addition to the plants in Chiba, Mie, and Yamaguchi prefectures that are currently in operation, Iwatani will establish a supply system for liquefied carbon dioxide, and will act to strengthen sales while fulfilling its responsibility to provide stable supply to customers in regions from Kinki to Chugoku/Shikoku.

The raw gas will be supplied from the Sakai Refinery of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., which will then be liquefied and stored on the premises of Hydro Edge, and shipped by trucks.
